Estamos Juntos

(Issue 20 - 2024)

2024
Romans 12:4-5 NIV
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

The Portuguese phrase “Estamos Juntos” is such a great phrase. In a very simple way, it indicates mutual understanding and togetherness. This togetherness is exactly what the Bible encourages.

We know all too well that togetherness is not easily found and maintained. It is far easier to remain separate. In our post-Covid-19 mentality, it seems we are only too eager to find reasons why we do not need to be together.

Where the Bible speaks about togetherness, it adds the qualities necessary for strong bonds between people: kindness, gentleness, brotherly love, being slow to speak and quick to listen, being humble and gracious and merciful. “Estamos juntos” gains its value when together, we intentionally speak and act in ways which enhance and protect our togetherness.

It is this togetherness which we are pursuing at CAM. Looking for ways to draw our community together, with a special focus on building bonds with our parents. When “estamos juntos” describes the nature of teacher and parent relationships, our students are the winners.

Easter break

We decided to close CAM on Friday, 29 March, to give families an opportunity to commemorate Good Friday together. This means that Thursday, 28 March will be the last day of the quarter. Progress Reports will be sent home on Thursday, 28 March. The school re-opens on Monday, 15 April.

Parent-teacher association

Birthed out of the results from the last parent survey, CAM wants to establish a Parent-Teacher Association. The purpose of this committee would be to have a forum to engage on school related issues and to work together on school projects, especially project fundraising, which would ultimately benefit the students.

School canteen?

Have your say about whether or not CAM should start a school canteen. The canteen would aim at serving cost effective, wholesome meals to our students. If there is enough interest from our parents we will publish a call for the submission of proposals for interested parties to run the canteen. Follow this link: CANTEEN.

School tour?

CAM is hoping to run its first post-Covid cross-border school tour. This tour will possibly run later this year with a focus on our current Gr6-Gr11 students. Follow this link to find out more: Tholo Tour.
